“No Hazing” Interfraternity Council Summit

Recently Brothers Jack Garvey and Jason Rome (Sergeant at Arms and President respectively) accompanied by Brother Joe Morris (Chapter Advisor), attended the IFC Alumni Board “No-Hazing” Fraternity Summit.

The Fraternity Summit intended to specifically address problems with hazing at UNC. Delta Sigma Phi at UNC maintains a strict, zero-tolerance no-hazing policy. This event was designed to promote round table discussions to advocate alternative methods of member education and pledging as opposed to hazing. Delta Sigma Phi at UNC currently maintains a perfect record of zero no hazing complaints.

This influential experience for both Brothers shows that positive changes are happening on the UNC campus. There are many valuable Fraternities at UNC dedicated to ridding our campus of hazing. Hopefully, this will be the first of many Summit styled events to address issues in the Greek Community at UNC.

The collaboration at this Summit enabled all Fraternities to disseminate, embrace, and gather many new ideas for pledge education programs. We are dedicated to continually improving our own pledge education program year after year. This regenerative process will ultimately, and subsequently lead to even more positive experiences between Brothers and Pledges.

It is our vision in accordance with the intent and spirit of the IFC Alumni Board Fraternity Summit, that this ongoing process will deter, even eliminate hazing within the Greek community at UNC.

Warm Regards,

Brother Jason Rome
President, Delta Sigma Phi - Alpha Delta
UNC Chapel Hill

Savannah Formal 2008

The Delta Sig brothers from UNC all took the past weekend to head down to historic and tradition laden Savannah, Georgia for the fraternity’s annual Formal. On Saturday evening brothers ate at The River House and The Conch House on River Street in downtown Savannah, followed by an evening river cruise on the Georgia Queen, and finally wrapped up by enjoying the nightlife on River Street. Please check out the photos page to see the awesome time we had out on the beach in the afternoon and on River Street in the evening. It was certainly a trip with many memories.test.jpg

Delta Sigs raid Vegas!

Peyton Maddox (Alumni) and Thomas Jones (Village Elder) decided to spend Spring Break 2008 in Las Vegas. The 4 day, 4 night stay in the resident 4 star Luxor Hotel was fantastic. Filled with entertainment shows like Wayne Brady and Cirque du Soleil, gambling at the Casino, walking the strip, and checking out the local bar/club scene, it was a vacation to remember for a lifetime!

We have many pictures from our trip including import cars, our favorite hostess, and Peyton dominating a deadly beast rodeo style. We loved every minute of it except for the 8 dollar beers and 12 dollar spirit beverages. Ouch!

Anyway it is definitely a vacation we will do again!

The next vacation will be in Europe somewhere and we need more Delta Sigs to join us! So… who’s in?

Are you a Delta Sig? Are you in the Circle?
